The Music Librarian of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra is responsible for all music needs of the orchestra. The duties for this position include but are not limited to:

Once season programming is established, determine which music is available from the TSO collection or must be purchased or rented from publishers or distributors.
Assemble annual proposed budget as requested and monitor expenses within final approved budget.
Advise Operations and Orchestra Manager of special instrumentation, editions and publishers required for scheduled repertoire;
Consult with conductors and soloists regarding any special requirements (versions, editions, keys, cuts, etc.);
Enter program listings, instrumentation requirements and other information into OPAS, and provide such information to staff as needed; post program page information on shared drive for use company-wide
Work with the principal string players to obtain master bowings;
Coordinate all string bowings with Library Assistants; Mark wind and percussion parts as necessary;
Duplicate parts as needed for inside string players, percussionists, assistant wind personnel, and others who need extra music due to instrument doublings;
Prepare folders for distribution two weeks prior to the first service of each orchestral cycle; when possible bring prepared music to a TSO service for easy pick-up by the musicians; Develop and monitor the process for music sign-out;
Collect music following the last performance of each cycle. Return rental music to the appropriate publishers;
Email music to musicians outside of the immediate Tucson area when requested;
In a timely manner, properly code and submit all library related invoices and bills incurred to the shared drive for approval.
Organize and maintain the TSO Library.
Maintain TSO Repertoire History in Excel;
Produce ASCAP, BMI and other related rights-granting agencies with accurate program reports as required by licensing agency;
Obtain perusal materials and/or recordings as requested by the Music Director or designee;
Prepare music for all auditions;
Correspond with music publishers, music dealers, other orchestra librarians, and composers on any problems of necessary music;
Maintain membership for the library in the Major Orchestras Library Association (MOLA);
Follow rules and parameters as outlined in CBA;
Secure mechanical or synchronization licenses for copyrighted works with copyright holders/publishers for any planned radio or internet broadcasts.
Organize and maintain rental library for Modern Works Publishing Company, a boutique publisher specializing in the works of living composers, owned by the TSO’s Composer in Residence. Ship materials worldwide and track their timely return for scheduled performances of any Modern Works orchestral rentals in their catalogue.
Other duties as required.
