The Development Database Manager is a key, full-time member of the Utah Symphony | Utah Opera (USUO) development department responsible for managing the accuracy and integrity of the Tessitura database and gift entry process, and related functions.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Processes contributions daily
· Manages and maintains the development Tessitura database to ensure accuracy and integrity
· Collaborates with the Finance Department to:
o Reconcile monthly contributed revenue
o Reconcile fiscal year-end results
o Maintain and improve business practices
o Implement data standards
o Establish and follow protocols to ensure accurate accounting
· Documents processes related to gift entry and reporting
· Collaborates with Patron Information Systems Manager to:
o Coordinate digital platform and social media giving processes
o Implement systems and procedures for all gift entry and related processes, including payment plans
· Generates acknowledgment, thank you letters, and tax receipts
· Creates a suite of reports tracking revenue and membership, as well as campaign and appeal analysis
· Maintains membership information in Tessitura
· Trains new Development Staff on Tessitura
· Serves as liaison with prospect research firm (Wealth Engine) and provides training and support for development staff
· Assist with other development department administrative needs
· Staff and represent USUO at performances, events and programs, and serve as an ambassador for USUO
· Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications and Experiences
· Database management; knowledge of Tessitura database a plus
· Detail-oriented and process-focused
· Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multi-tasking abilities
· High level of professionalism and grace under pressure
· Ability to incorporate and apply database knowledge to connect with USUO donors to bring them closer to USUO’s mission, and to assist the development department with strategic planning
· Excellent customer service skills
· Enthusiastic and positive personality; high energy level
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A strong commitment to the mission of USUO, demonstrating a genuine interest and passion for the arts, especially classical music
· A willingness to work some evenings and weekends
· A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
