Job Title: Communications Manager
Location: Hybrid (Washington, DC)
Compensation: $25 – $30 per hour
Hours: 9-15 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Operations

Vocal Arts DC is dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of vocal performance. We provide a platform for both emerging and established artists to share their talent with the community. Our mission is to enrich the cultural landscape of Washington, DC, through high-quality vocal music presentations and educational outreach.

Job Summary:
Vocal Arts DC seeks a dynamic and creative Communications Manager to join our team. This part-time position plays a crucial role in enhancing our organization’s visibility and engagement through strategic communication efforts. The Communications Manager will develop and execute communication plans, manage social media platforms, create content, and ensure consistent messaging across all channels. The role requires attendance at recitals and other key events to capture live content and engage with our audience.

Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to promote Vocal Arts DC’s events and initiatives.
-Manage and grow Vocal Arts DC’s social media presence (Facebook, X, Instagram, etc.) by creating engaging content and monitoring interactions.
-Write and distribute press releases, newsletters, and email campaigns.
-Update and maintain the organization’s website (WordPress) with current event information and news.
-Collaborate with the staff to develop promotional materials and campaigns.
-Attend recitals and other events to provide live coverage and engage with attendees, VIPs, and press contacts.
-Design creative assets for print/digital ads, newsletters, and other placements.
-Design and coordinate program printing for each VADC event.
-Attend artist rehearsal to film and edit promotional videos.
-Set goals and KPIs for communications strategy, adjusting tactics as needed.
-Collaborate with staff to execute digital fundraising communications.
-Coordinate with external vendors, venues, and media contacts as needed.

Qualifications:
-Minimum of 2 years of experience in a communications role, preferably in the arts or non-profit sector.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficiency in social media management tools and content creation.
-Proficiency in WordPress.
-Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
-Passion for vocal arts and an understanding of the performing arts landscape.
-Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
-Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for events.
-Access to a computer and internet connection.
