Located in the scenic Litchfield Hills of Northwest Connecticut and founded in 1952, the Washington Art Association and Gallery is a non-profit membership organization located in Washington Depot, Connecticut. It is dedicated to enriching the local community with arts education, exhibitions, and special events. Overall direction for Washington Art Association comes from its President and from its Board of Trustees, a diverse group of arts-loving volunteers. Washington Art Association’s programs are given shape by its Executive Director and a small, dedicated staff, often working in concert with trustees, volunteers, and other members.

Position Summary: There are multiple dimensions to Washington Art Association’s Exhibition and Education Coordinator (EEC). As the EEC you will play a central role in coordinating both areas of the organization, critical to strengthening both programs, finding new audiences, deepening ties to Washington Art Association’s local community while being the face of the organization that welcomes visitors to the gallery.

Qualifications:
• Five years of experience working in a role focused on audiences, customers, or membership.
• Bachelor’s degree or four years of progressive experience in program management with a focus on fine arts and education.
• Proven track record for engaging and growing member/audience interest through various methods including digital channels.
• Hands-on experience with search, social media, and email marketing, including paid digital media and sponsored Instagram and Facebook posts.
• Proven managerial, project-management, and multitasking skills, and ability to work independently, proactively, collaboratively, and effectively under pressure with Washington Art Association’s staff and outside partners.
• Exceptional writing skills and experience in creating short, engaging, fresh copy and eye-catching imagery.
• The ability and knowledge of website (WordPress) updating, and management is preferred.
• The experience and confidence to respond effectively to creative work/concepts.
• Creative thinker and problem solver who can clearly articulate ideas, frame challenges, highlight opportunities, and offer solutions.
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM), preferably DonorPerfect, and project-management tools.
• Not afraid to take risks and try new things, always testing and learning.
• Enthusiasm for the work of Washington Art Association and passion for the arts and nonprofit cultural world.

Requirements:
• As the person who welcomes every visitor to the gallery, the applicant must be comfortable with meeting new people, quickly develop a rapport with everyone, and be used to multi-tasking.
• Collaboration with Executive Director, Exhibition and Education Committees to oversee the implementation of Washington Art Association’s Exhibition and Education programs.
• Develop marketing assets for Exhibition and Education programs and to ensure the alignment of content output with members and the general community while achieving revenue goals.
• Coordinate with DonorPerfect to strategically align communications across all programs for which the applicant is responsible, increasing incremental.
• Be an advocate and ambassador of the Art Association while collaborating with all appropriate parties.
Events and Programs:
• Continue to create a portfolio of meaningful programs and events that align with the Art Association mission, vision and values including special events.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Exhibition Committee on exhibition previews and openings.
• Collaborate with the Executive Director and Education Committee on the classes and workshop calendar, liaise with instructors to prepare material for each semester, enroll students and ensure a timely payment of instructors at the end of each semester.
