The Senior Manager, Outreach and Community Development holds a leadership position within the YoungArts programs team. The Senior Manager, Outreach and Community Development will oversee the day-to-day operations of the outreach and relationship-building programs that welcome early career artists into the community annually. Outreach to early career artists encompasses the transformation of how YoungArts supports national efforts to build applicant and educator awareness of the competition; develops and leads outreach efforts into underserved communities; creates access to portfolio development resources; and facilitates community input into large-scale narrative change work around the YoungArts competition. Additionally, this position acts in collaboration with the Lifetime Support for Artists team to conceptualize and catalyze outreach to YoungArts alumni. This position is responsible for implementation of strategic objectives and organizational initiatives as set forth by the Director, National Competition, ensuring operational efficiency and coherence within programs overall resource architecture. The Senior Manager, Outreach and Community Development collaborates closely with Associate Directors, Senior Managers, and Coordinators in this portfolio area to build the community of applicants, educators, peer institutions, panelists, reviewers, RAs, DCs, and new winners. Senior Manager, Outreach and Community Development directly reports to Director, National Arts Competition. Salary starts as listed and is commensurate with experience.
Essential and Other Responsibilities (perform other duties as assigned):
– Collaborate with Associate Directors, Senior Managers, and seasonal hires to develop new recruitment strategies, information sessions, discipline framework, application and adjudication processes, and evaluation of progress towards organizational goals.
– Develop and cultivate relationships with local and national arts organizations, schools and arts programs to create strategic partnerships in support of new applicant recruitment.
– Oversee the selection process, on-boarding, training, and facilitation of outreach presenters and community facilitators.
– Build networks and knowledge in policies that impact young artists locally, regionally, and nationally.
– Provide mentorship and effective training to all contractors who represent the organization externally, ensuring health and safety protocols for minors and the creation of extraordinary learning environments for all young artists.
– Collaborate with Lifetime Support for Artists Team to conceptualize and catalyze its alumni outreach efforts.
– Collaborate with Senior Director, Strategic Communications to design effective messaging campaigns.
– Collaborate with Senior Director, Integrated Advancement to aggregate, analyze, and report about programmatic activity for all stakeholders.
– Support the transformation of Programs’ data collection methods and tools to track, learn about, and connect all artists in the community.
– Collaborate closely with People Operations, Finance, and Operations departments to refine all contract, payment, and invoice processes on behalf of the Artistic Programs department.
– In coordination with team members, execute invoices and contracts for the Artistic Programs team.
– Collaborate with National Competition Team to develop and maintain processes that yield an accurate, detailed snapshot of departmental expenses through tracking and reconciliation of the budget.
– Contribute to the annual development of the National Competition budget and revenue strategy.
– Collaborate closely with all departments to organize the season calendar and plan resource distribution opportunities and public-facing events.
– Recognize innovative ways that YoungArts can expand and adapt its programming, ensuring that cutting edge approaches are utilized for greater reach and impact.
– Develop and steward relationships with award winners, artists, and cultural organizations to support programmatic growth; represent YoungArts in national convenings and contribute thought leadership to the field.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

– Experience in developing programs appropriate to young artists’ development and growth.
– Evidence of strong leadership skills, including decisiveness, emotional intelligence, prioritization, negotiation, and equanimity in a fast-paced environment.
– Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
– Experience with budget development and management.
– Flexibility to work outside of regular office hours for programs and events.
– Evidence of curiosity and self-motivation to grow and share networks, knowledge, and best practices in the field of artist services.
– Interest in piloting initiatives to improve the accessibility of Early Recognition programs.
Education and/or Credentialing Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience
– 5+ years of progressive experience managing high-performing teams and evidence of responsibility growth in the arts and culture field
– Experience beyond requirement will be considered in lieu of education requirement
Working conditions, typical physical/mental demands:
– YoungArts physical campus and headquarters are in Miami, FL. Work is performed in a hybrid (virtual and in-office) setting. Typical operations take place in an office environment and/or in an event/venue setting.
– General working hours are 9:00 am–5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. The nature of our work will sometimes require an adjustment to this schedule, including evenings and weekends. You will normally be advised in advance should your work schedule be adjusted.
– Travel will be required.
